disciplines including Finance business support, procurement, internal
control, accounting operations, Treasury and Group Reporting, you will build
the capabilities and skills needed to advance your career as a Finance or
procurement specialist.

Requirements

You must already have:

* 2.1 Honours Degree in any discipline (attained or predicted in 2008)

* The right to work and live in the UK indefinitely

The Programme

You will need to be up for a challenge on our Programme. In two years you
will need to develop the skills and capabilities necessary to lead BA to
financial strength, so your commitment to learning and development is
critical. As well as a comprehensive induction, we will support you to
develop top class finance skills by sponsoring your progress towards
attaining a recognised professional qualification. British Airways is
recognised as a platinum level training organisation by the ACCA and has
accredited status with CIMA and CIPS.

You will learn about the customer, operations and commercial aspect of our
business and there will be opportunities to get involved at the sharp end
when it really counts delivering an upgraded experience to our customers
every time. With our flagship terminal opening just a few short months
before you take up your place on the programme, you will be joining our
business at an exciting and challenging time. We will need people with
commitment and drive to help us to face the challenges of the future and who
can adapt and respond to the speed of our business.

The programme is approximately 2 years in length, which includes an at least
three placements. On joining the company you will work with our Programme
Manager to create a development plan tailored to your specific development
needs. You will have a line manager to support you in each of your
placements and a senior management mentor in the department to support you
throughout your programme and beyond. Placements will be designed to give
you the opportunity to maximise your potential and develop your skills and
capabilities to the full. All will be real jobs with real responsibility and
accountability and may include the need for travel.

Your Development Plan

We will work with you to develop a development plan that will work for you
and the business. Aside from your colleagues on the programme, you will also
find a strong support network in place. The Programme Manager will provide
you with regular career coaching and guidance and you will also have a buddy
from the department and an experienced senior manager from within the
business to act as your mentor. All of these people will take an interest in
tracking your progress as you pursue your career within BA Finance.

In addition to your programme you will also have access to an impressive
range of training resources, which you will be able to draw upon as you need
them. From computer based training to classroom courses, programmes are
offered to develop a wide range of skills such as leadership, team-building,
presentation and negotiation.

At the end of the programme you will move into a permanent role within
British Airways where you can consolidate your learning from the programme
and continue to develop your skills and capabilities.

You as a Person

We are looking for 8 talented individuals to join the programme in October
2008. However theres no one type of person destined to succeed above
everyone else but all will be excellent team players with strong numerical
capability, who will put customer service high on their agendas.

Like all businesses we have demanding challenges ahead of us. However we
believe that with the right people to deliver our strategy we can meet them
head on. As a customer service organisation, the way we build relationships,
manage our people and work as one team is key to the success of our company.
It is crucial, therefore, that you demonstrate a passion for this business
and share our values and goals.

A high level of numerical and analytical ability is critical as is the
commitment to study towards a relevant professional qualification. We want
problem solvers who can deal with ambiguity as well as grasp ideas and
information quickly. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build
strong relationships quickly are also highly valued.
