Our Client is seeking to hire a Temporary Network Specialist 6 months
Main function of job:
Provision of technical support for the IT infrastructure along with support and advice to staff within and outside the I.T. department for the Middle East and the Isle of Man Regions.
Main accountabilities:
Support the Local Area Network (LAN) infrastructure within ZIS Offices.
support the Wide Area Network (WAN) connecting all ZIS Offices with the Zurich Global Network (Zurinet).
Support central file servers within ZIS Offices.
Support of Internal and External information security infrastructure, including but not limited to Firewalls, Proxy Servers, Anti-Virus, Mail Sweeper, and Intrusion Detection Software.
Support for ZIS Extranet
Capacity and performance monitoring of IT infrastructure components.
Provide second and third level support for IT Help Desk and Support staff to resolve complex and difficult technical problems.
Make recommendations to management, on which strategic and tactical decisions are based.
Ensures the resolution of specific IT related problems, identifying root causes and taking corrective action.
Provide technical support and advice to other members of the IT department and all ZIS staff as required.
Develops and maintains good working relationships with suppliers in order to obtain reliable and cost effective solutions.
Other accountabilities may include:
Support and installation of the Desktop and Laptop PC environment, both hardware and software, within ZIS Offices.
support and installation of end user electronic equipment such as printers, fax, PDA, photocopiers and phones.
Competencies / skills:
Technical (job related) - the applicant should have several of the following:-
Qualification in IT or a related subject, preferably to degree standard.
Minimum 5 years experience in an IT support environment.
detailed knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and/or PC operating systems
detailed knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory
detailed knowledge of Microsoft IIS and associated web site hosting
detailed knowledge of Microsoft SQL
detailed knowledge of Lotus Notes
Detailed knowledge of Microsoft Office and other application software.
Detailed knowledge of PC and printer hardware.
Detailed knowledge of CISCO switches and Routers.
Detailed knowledge of Avaya VoIP phone systems
knowledge of NICE/RACAL call and quality recording systems
Knowledge of AS/400 Operating system support including networking and Operations support.
Microsoft MCP, MSCE, CISCO CCNE, Checkpoint CCSE or similar accreditation.
Knowledge of networking protocols especially TCP/IP.
Behavioural (person related)
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Very strong technical skills and understanding.
Clear understanding or IT procedures, policies and concepts, especially those related to security.
The ability to think clearly and follow a structured approach in problem solving.

the flexibility to take part in an on-call rota is to provide 24x7 support
the flexibility to travel to support regional offices as required
