SAAFE Research Internship Program
Applications are open for the SAAFE Research Internship Program. Deadline for applications is 1 May 2017.
The SAAFE Program objective is to
facilitate the conduct of research and foster research collaborations
between France and Australia in nuclear science and engineering. The
program will support early career researcher’s at PhD Level to expand
research and innovation activities within Human Health, Environment and
Nuclear Fuel Cycle, to initiate sustainable research networks and
linkages to support Australia and France research and innovation.
Applicants must be:
- a PhD student currently enrolled in a French or AINSE member university; OR
- enrolled in a PhD in collaboration between French and Australian institutions.
AND
Carrying out a research project which stimulates research collaborations between France and Australia in the following areas:
- Human Health Research
- Environmental Research
- Nuclear Fuel Cycle Research

Participate in the Australian-French Entrepreneurship Challenge 2017
The Academy
invites applications from Australian PhD students from all areas to
participate in the Australian-French Entrepreneurship Challenge 2017.
Deadline for applications is 9am (AEST) Monday 8 May 2017.
At the time of application, applicants should:
- be an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident, living in Australia
- be enrolled as a PhD candidate in an Australian university or research organisation
- hold a passport valid until at least 30 June 2018
Candidates
should be research active in any field of the natural sciences,
including technology, engineering and medicine as well as social
sciences and humanities.

Visit to the National Institutes of Health in the USA by a junior scientist
The Academy invites applications from
junior Australian scientists, who are 30 years of age at the time of
application, to visit the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the
United States of America during 2018 for between 6 and 13 weeks. Deadline for applications is 9am (AEST) Monday 12 June 2017.
At the time of application, applicants should:
- have an intent to enrol in PhD study in an Australian institution
- be in the first two years of a PhD degree or equivalent
- be in the final year of a masters or a bachelors with honours degree or
- have completed a masters or a bachelors with honours degree
The successful applicant will receive a
contribution towards the direct return air travel between Australia and
the host institution up to a maximum of $2600AUD, and a once off living
allowance of up to a maximum of $400AUD, provided by the Adam J. Berry
Memorial Fund (AJBMF). The National Institutes of Health (NIH) will
provide a small daily stipend during the participant’s stay in America.

Participate in the Falling Walls Lab Australia 2017
The Academy invites applications from
Australian, New Zealand and Pacific Island Forum (PIF) Nations
researchers, postdocs and students, entrepreneurs, engineers and
innovators from all areas to attend the Falling Walls Lab Australia
2017. Deadline for applications is 5pm (AEST) Monday 12 June 2017.
20 Australian and 5 New Zealand/PIF
Nations contestants will be invited to participate in this challenge
with each required to give a 3 minute presentation on their research,
business model or initiative based on the "Which walls will fall next"
concept.
Candidates should be research active in
any field of the natural sciences, including technology, engineering
and medicine as well as social sciences and humanities.
